Debate on The Future of Housing in Winchester

November 2nd, 2011

The debate at The Theatre Royal contained the traditional resistance to the construction of new homes in Winchester but also some welcomed positive comments on the importance of the future growth of the city and our responsibility to take our fair share of new homes.

From a Millgate perspective we understand the importance of building homes in places people want to live. People want to live in Winchester and we will continue to seek land where we can build high quality new houses to replace the often low quality and unsustainable existing stock.

Goodbye Landfill…

November 30th, 2009

We have always tried to reduce the waste we generate on our sites and to find environmentally friendly ways of disposal. We are very pleased to announce that our site waste will now be used to generate electricity. All our segregated combustible waste will be collected by Veolia and used in their Energy Recovery Facilities to provide power for the National Grid.

On a much smaller scale we continue to offer all our waste timber to local residents who wish to collect it for burning on their fires at home. As ever cakes and mince pies always much appreciated in return!

Work Starts at The Limes, St Giles Hill

August 26th, 2009

We have now returned to Winchester following our year building 2 very large houses at Amport. Our next project is The Limes, a development of 2 five bedroom houses and 2 two bed room flats. Designed by Paul Masser, this is a stunning building that refelects the best in the local architecture.

We are starting groundworks now and plan to be finished around this time next year.

As usual we will be giving away any left over bits of wood for people to take away for their fires. We think a much more enviro friendly way of getting rid of left overs when compered with our other option of disposal by skip. Any cakes you may like to give us in exchange for firewood are always appreciated!

New Name Approved for St Giles Hill site

September 2nd, 2008

Naming a new site is an important but often challenging task. Formerly known as Barnaby, our new site on St Giles Hill has been renamed ‘The Limes’. When visiting the site the reason for the name will soon be clear as this prestigious Winchester road is lined on both sides with mature lime trees.

The development will comprise a pair of five bedroom town houses and a pair of two bedroom flats. Demolition will take place this Autumn, to be followed by an archaeoligical survey.
